Mixing Medium

Stumbled across this a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. Contact solution makes a GREAT mixing medium. If you are unfamiliar with this term, a mixing medium is just a liquid you mix with your shadows to increase pigmentation and/or change the texture..... Click for video tutorial!

Natural Glowing Skin

Watching T.V. the other day I was so inspired by one of the models on the new Maybelline Fit Me Commercials. If you haven't seen it take a look.... She looks soooo beautiful, but more importantly, she looks effortlessly beautiful. A flawless face look that accentuates your skin and emphasizes your favorite features is probably my favorite look. I think a woman isn't more beautiful than when in her natural state. And although you may have a few problem areas that you need covered, keeping you from being completely make up-less, you can still cover these and have the no-makeup or very little make-up look. I think there are 2 important components to achieving this look: 1) Flawless Skin Make Up can only do so much. Be sure to take great care of your skin. Remove your make up at night, exfoliate at least once a week, find a good moisturizer and acne regimen if you have issues with acne. To achieve that flawless skin look, find a foundation for you that gives good coverage, covering any acne scars or complexion irregularity. If you have very few like me, you can use concealer to cover your problem areas and a mineral foundation for a more effortless look. Also, MAC's Fix+ works GREAT for keeping your make up put all day as well as providing that dewy, glowy look 2) Accentuate Your Favorite Features Since your make up will be very plain, you will want to accentuate your eyes, brows, lips, or cheek bones, or...all of them! Maybe define your brows by concealing underneath them and darkening them a bit. For your eyes, add lashes, but keep it simple with no shadow and just mascara. If your lids are darker than the rest of your face, mute them with your concealer. For your lips, a stain would be perfect. Something close to your skin tone. OR, use your favorite lip liner and simply fill your lips in. Use Vaseline or clear lip gloss for a soft, plump look. And don't forget to contour your cheek bones.
